Endodontics
Root canal treatment is necessary in cases where dental caries approaches the nerve, allowing infection to penetrate the pulp cavity of the tooth, or in cases of tooth damage due to trauma. The goal of every endodontic treatment is to preserve the affected non-vital (dead) tooth in the oral cavity without compromising its function.
The endodontic procedure consists of locating and clearing all root canals of the tooth and precisely measuring their length using an apex locator and a measuring RVG image. Furthermore, it involves shaping and enlarging the canals using nickel-titanium instruments, ensuring their thorough disinfection, and hermetically filling them using gutta-percha condensation.
